Klang, May 6, 2013: Hindraf Makkal Sakhti's chief, P Uthayakumar today launched his election banner urging supporters to send him as the first Hindraf MP for the Parliamentary seat of Kota Raja.
He is also contesting the Sri Andalas Selangor State seat.
Speaking to supporters Uthayakumar, outlined the 56 years of abuse and neglect suffered by the Indian community at the hands of the Barisan National government.
The Pakatan State government of Selangor and Penang has faired little better than previous BN governments in attending to Indian complaints, he said.
In the 2008 general election, PAS' Siti Mariah Mahmud polle 38,630 votes to trounce MIC's Vigneswaran by a whopping 20,771 votes.
With Uthayakumar coming into the fray, it looks like the Kota Raja Parliamentary seat and Sri Andalas State seat will be a 3-cornered fight.
At the 2008 election, PKR's A Xavier Jeyakumar beat BN's A Kamala Ganapathy by 10,203, polling 20,258 votes. |
