We spoke to YB S Manikavasagam, the PKR Member of Parliament for Kapar on the Hindraf blueprint.
This was on occasion of the hunger strike by P Waythamoorthy, the Hindraf Chairperson.
Waythamoorthy had gone on hunger strike since March 10 because of his frustration with the Pakatan Rakyat leadership which he claimed had not moved forward with accepting Hindraf's blueprint presented to them earlier. The blueprint is geared to end the woes of Malaysia's ethnic Indian population.
Manikavasagam was a high-level Hindraf lieutenant before delving into politics to contest the Kapar Parliamentary seat at the 2008 general election under the Pakatan Rakyat banner.
Since this interview with the Pakatan Parliamentarian, the Prime Minister, Najib Razak had met with Waythamoorthy and the Hindraf leadership.
And yesterday, March 31, the Hindraf Chairman ended his hunger strike due to deteriorating health. |
