In Kayan culture, when someone dies, and is buried, the families will never visit the graveyard again. During the relocation of the natives at the Bakun dam project, some of the graves at their burial site were also relocated.
But to Kayan boatman, Ngau Lah, they don't want to repeat the same thing in Baram. He said, it is disrespect to the dead and he doesn't want their relatives or forefathers to die for a second time once the dam has been completed and the graveyard flooded.
